Kids and teen haircuts in Aruba

A child’s haircut goes wrong for one reason more than any other: somebody is in a hurry. The clippers are loud, the chair is high, a stranger is standing behind them, and if the barber is watching the clock the kid can feel it. That is why the Kids & Teen Cut at our Ponton shop is its own booking with its own 45-minute slot, not a quick job squeezed between two adult appointments.

Most of that time is not needed for the cutting. It is there so nobody has to rush the part before it — letting a nervous five-year-old hear the clippers before they touch anything, or giving a teenager room to explain the exact taper they saw online. Whichever of our barbers you book — Jay, Dylan or Victor — the cut gets the same finishing as anyone else’s: clean edges, a neat neckline, nothing left half-blended.

Teenagers are a different client from small kids, and we treat them that way. By thirteen or fourteen most of them know precisely what they want — a skin or low fade, a sharp line-up, sometimes a freehand design — and the conversation is between them and the barber. Parents are welcome to weigh in on what the school will accept; the barber will help find a version that works for both.

A few things make a first visit easier. Book a morning or a time after a snack rather than straight after a long school day. Bring a photo if your child has a style in mind. And tell the barber up front if they are sensitive around the ears or neck — it changes how the clippers are introduced, and it is far better known before the cut than discovered halfway through.

Busy family? You can book the kids’ cuts online and add your own haircut back-to-back, so the whole family is done in a single trip to Ponton. We’re appointment-based, which means no waiting room full of restless children and no guessing how long it will take.

Children’s hair in Aruba grows through a cut faster than you would expect: the heat, the pool and the sea all dry it out and rough up the edges. Every three to four weeks keeps a kid’s cut looking tidy; teens wearing a fade usually want to come back sooner. Whatever the rhythm, the easiest habit is booking the next one before you leave.

Questions parents ask

Is the Kids & Teen Cut different from an adult haircut?

It is booked as its own service with its own 45-minute slot, so there is time for a child who needs a minute to settle. The technique is the same care our barbers give every client; the pace is set by the kid in the chair.

Can my child get a fade or a design?

Yes. Fades, tapers, line-ups and freehand designs are all on the table for younger clients. Talk it through with the barber at the start so the cut suits both your child and whatever rules their school or team has.

Can I book my own cut at the same time?

Yes. Book yourself and your kids back-to-back online using the same details, so everyone is done in one visit.

Should I stay with my child during the cut?

For younger children we'd encourage it. A familiar face nearby is the single best thing for a first or second visit. Teens usually prefer to handle it themselves.
